Being next of kin certainly has it’s benefits. People talk to you and you’re kept informed and you’re consulted. The care services communicate with you.
That’s ok if the next of kin have the other person’s best interest at heart. It’s also fine if there is communication amongst all in the family. Unfortunately this may not always be the case.
If you have problems within your family unit, make sure you stay in the loop and you encourage the system to get on side. Educate them about your loved one if you have to and keep educating them to make sure they understand how things are, and how you want to be kept informed.
If you are not the next of kin, the system will encounter problems communicating with you because of the red tape, but where there is a will there is always a way, but be truthful and be yourself because regardless of how you are feeling the truth always comes out.
